The guys involved are honest, so positives will come from this.
On a personal level, my house is well within range of where the gun fired, so I’m just glad I’ve no complicated insurance claim to put in!

Perhaps, as it took time to find the round, the word had to go out just in case it had buried itself up a cow’s back end. Also, in the interests of honesty and openness, and with the HSE and AAIB involved, it was for the best.
