I bought this boat a few months ago, not many were built, I had a single engine one and wanted a twin, as far as I know, there is only 2 or 3 twin engine ones.

Its a Fairey Bulldog, 31ft, she sank in late 2015, the engines have run since, but she's been ashore a while and they don't run now. Port one delivers fuel to the injectors, oil pressure builds, but when it tries to fire it make the most appalling clonking noise and won't start. The stbd one has the injection pump full of brass filings.... The design dates back to the 1960's, this pair have been in the boat since at least 1999, several years in commercial service.

Ready to come out.

Replacement is a pair of Cummins 4B, same weight, same capacity, same HP at same RPM. The Cummins 4B is a huge step forward having been a new clean sheet design in production in 1985. Its a mechanical engine.

I’m in. This should be fun.

Just watching the guy on YouTube B is for build who managed to run one of his engines with no oil in it then wondered why it’s knackered.

He’s decided to go twin petrol V8, from what is currently twin Cummins turbo diesels. What a moron. How to make your boat worth peanuts. Funny watching him though.

Yes, I missed her twice! She's mine now!

Eurgh! What a mess!

They are out, took 30 mins to lift them with a telehandler.

There is several inches of oily sludge at the bottom.

Next job clean out all the oil, then a cockpit cover.

I’ve been watching that too and generally shaking my head at the gormless ill thought out route he’s taking. Truly is a case of just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

It gets the views in though and all you tubers care about.

Progress a bit slower than I would like, various excuses!

Pic shows one of the replacement engines, believe the motor to be MoD surplus unused but will need a thorough look at.

PRM gearbox mounted. It's a bit of a mock up but will allow me to start work on mounting brackets.

Surely a pair of v8s should be installed as a minimum.....

I could not use my engine crane to get the block on the stand as the legs of both got in the way.

So I built a heath robinson A frame. Pic shows one block, it's been rebored, ready to assemble.

Time flies...

Covid, no work, too much work, excuses abound.

I couldnt get it under cover at the boat yard, so I've taken on a compound in an industrial park with a portacabin.

I do now have a pair of running engines, with some very snazzy zf down angle gearboxes which will put the engines level.

Long way to go.
