Are there any ‘major’ events going ahead post lockdown?

Biggin Hill has been good for the last few years pre-C19, but doesn’t seem to be any news on an event this year.

I’m guessing there is not enough time ahead of summer to get venues back in to operation, well rehearsed flyers rostered, and deal with all the organisational challenges. Maybe some events scheduled for Q3, or will everything push to next year?

It depends what you class as ‘Major’ these days, but in the second half of last summer The Shuttleworth Collection pioneered Covid safe drive in airshows. They have a full program of these format shows planned for this year.

The bigger RAF bases have an air day, that might be your best bet for a fix this year as I don’t think there will be any major events. They should could still be on given it’s behind a fence. You obviously wont be able to get on to the base but most have good viewing spots within the volcano have in the past, had some guest aircraft appearances rather than just station assets

The days of Mildenhall scale, variety and spectacle sadly seem to be long past. Cosford this year looked promising, but they have postponed. Shuttleworth is always a good day out, their collection is incredible, and will no doubt excel with the vintage stuff. I’ll have a look to see what the other large RAF bases are doing.

I’m after a family day, lots to see on the ground, full flying display agenda, and a variety of aircraft from all periods including international visitors.

Used to love going to Southport air show, round about middle of September.
Might not be on this year.

Yes, first weekend of Sept. Will see what is flying, RA, BBMF etc have not released any dates yet
