Fun Flights A380
Discussion
Random question. I never flew on concorde, nor a 747 and never have on an A380.
I don't have any long distance foreign holidays planned in the next few years, for a number of reasons.
Does anyone provide a short fun flight in that type of plane? I'm guessing the answer is no way as it wouldn't be economical.
Be nice to fly on at least one iconic plane.

I read somewhere recently that there were currently only around 25 A380s in service and 200 in storage. Given that some airlines are not guaranteed to bring all theirs back into service, you might have to wait and see if any find their way into the charter world. Of the bigger airlines, Emirates have loads, so they would be your best chance - but you'd have to fly to Dubai!

Or Etihad, Qatar or Singapore. However, your point is valid - you’ll need to be going east to increase your odds of such a plane being the plane you fly on.dukeboy749r said:

Not sure the Etihad or Qatari ones will make it back.... I know a Singapore one was coming out of storage in Alice Springs a few months ago.I have only seen a China Southern one flying around in this part of the world.
I think you'd be disappointed to be honest. They just feel like any other passenger plane. The bar on the 380 is a novelty, but not worth taking a flight for.
I agree re concorde - that would have been a fun experience. Fighter jet speeds without the need for a flight suit and free cocktails. Every RAF pilot's dream

I would have love to have flown on Concorde, the experience at Brooklands was ace. I need to take the kids when these sorts of things are properly open again.
I've not done a lot of long haul by many people's standards, and only in Business a couple of times, but for me a plane is mostly a means to get somewhere. If it's a holiday, I think of it as a way to chill out a bit before you get there.
The most memorable flight I ever did was in an Embraer E175, from Amsterdam to Birmingham. That might have been the glorious weather that meant I could see for miles, but it was probably because I was in the jump seat in the cockpit, with a headset, chatting to the pilots as we went. That was ace.

I'm the same, never went on Concorde haven't been on an A830 but have been on a 747.
I do want to tick it off. I landed in Singapore many years ago when SA had just got their first A380's and we pulled up next to on in a 747 size difference was huge.
Mum & sister both went on one when they went to OZ in 2020.
