Off to the first airshow of the season this Sunday, very much looking forward to it.
I went last year, simply because I was missing airshows and photography so much, thought I would take what I could, I had massively underestimated how good it was.
Typically it looks like the fine weather we have seen of late will have disappeared by then frown

It's sold out, but if you get a chance to go at any point, it will not disappoint!

I was offered a free ticket to this weekend's show, but unfortunately I can't make it.

I am however going to the 'Spies & Intrigue' evening show on 15th May. I'm local and have joined the model flying club there so that I can pilot my own 1:5 scale Lizzie there:

Yes I was pleasantly surprised how good their show was, when I visited 3 years ago.

Here’s your Lysander’s big brother.

Other highlights.

The crowd position vis a vis the sun makes photographing the displaying aircraft very rewarding. Also, because it's a small airfield, you are closer to the action than at larger venues.

That was the biggest win for me Eric, despite being at the very back row, was still presented with some great photo opportunities.
(I think the 200-500 lens helped though!)

I'm local so I get to enjoy the wonderful soundtrack as they practice in the weeks running up towards a show. It's also good fun when you have the visitors mixing with the home talent biggrin

Great pics there. I'm just down the road in st neots and there's a lovely walk that goes right round the airfield. As above, great to combine when they are out practicing smile

I've stayed on the Camping and Caravan Club site at St Neots. It's a lovely spot - and handy for Shuttleworth.

Still good but something just sounds nicer on a merlin.

I'm a Griffon man myself - especially four of them on a Shackleton.
