Hydrogen-powered plane crashes during test flight at Cranfield

Luckily no-one was hurt, though it appears that one wing was ripped off after the forced landing

Judging by this picture it looks as though he was a bit low coming over (through) the hedge.



Hopefully they can get another airframe and carry on with testing as soon as possible.

I expect the engine lost power or failed and he put it down as best he could.

It was a fair way off the airfield and runway line when I passed it leaving work on Thursday evening. Lucky to be that side of the airfield rather than Cranfield village side I suppose.

high pressure tank, high pressure fuel lines, very small gas molecules that can escape through almost anything, what could possibly go wrong?
