These were taken at RAF Alconbury in either 1971 or 1972,

Unfortunately some got light into the film whilst i was putting the film in the developing tank, so are being held back.

I do hope you can find a way of getting some F-100 pictures up, always been a favourite of mine. The only flying airframe I have seen was in Reno, but I didn't have my camera. They really are sleek, beautiful, purposeful aircraft. I'd also like to see any lightning pics!

Great pics, thanks for posting them. I don't think the Vulcan is a B1 Eric, it's got the TFR which I believe was only fitted to the B2.

I couldn't really tell. I know the wing leading edges on the B1 were slightly less complex.

It's a B2 as it's got the larger intakes. IIRC only one B2 had the smaller intakes of the B1.

wonderful chap, thank you. Back when airshows were airshows and you didnt need a 500mm lens minimum to capture anything flying. Thanks for the effort of posting. The F100 four ship must have been quite a sight!

Jake

It was great to actually wander around without a jobsworth telling to to stand well back, chatting to the pilots, letting kids sit in the cockpit.etc

A chap i worked with was an Indian who lived in British Guyana, he was the brother i never had. tragically died of sepsis a few years ago, cried my bloody eyes out. However there was a mexican food stall and Tony ( the chap standing at the entrance of the prop ) asked for a really hot spicy one as Bill by this time was already through his and said it was quite mild,Well he was used to hot curries !!Well i also went for it and one bite later was breathing flames!!
Asked where the nearest beer tent was and we both an over asking for 'your strongest beer' Ah Budweiser said the chap.... 2 cans each please. Downed both in a second and still on fire. Asked for 2 more and did the same, when we were ready for the 5th and 6th he said 'Steady on boys thats powerful stuff' to which we replied in unison 'Gnats piss' and away went the other two!!!
during the airshow we were sitting on front of a mahoosive USAF chap with his son, normal, for then, crew cut , etc and went ape when the F100 went over . saying, loudly even for an American 'Thats the USAF son' we kept quite as we knew what the Lighting was going to do, so it took off, lots of noise and did a slow turn out and away from the field. went missing and then rocketed down the runway at full chat, at what seemed to be 50ft ,he noise came a few seconds after it passed, and stood on its tails and disappeared to about 40k ft in seconds We looked back and this guys jaw was about an inch off the ground..'And THAT sir is the RAF!'

They put on superb shows, most of the pics i took went 'missing' when i moved out from Mrs Fox Mk 1 but some 60s slides from Heathrow managed to escape!! along with some shots of a meeting at Crystal Palace...another sad loss
