Slightly o/t. many moons ago there was a TV prog about modellers planes trains ships etc.

One group built a largish ( about 12ft or so IIRC) fully remote controlled and even dipped the rear, where an RC landing craft chugged out, carrying a tank. This landed on a 'beach' and the tank trundled out and fired a round

All RC

Who i do admire are those guys who build massive airliners with jet engines..I hold my breath everytime i see one go up and hope it comes down safely. How many hours are spent building such a monster

I think your are referring to a series called 'Supermodels', presented by Mark Found. The first series featured the build of Fearless (the one you've described). The second series was centred on a large scale C-17 flying model.

I fly RC planes and there are a few guys in my club who own large turbine models. Last summer one guy had a bad run of luck, loosing 4 big models (through equipment failure rather than pilot error) in the space of 3 months. That's the way that particular hobby goes.

Anyway; thread hijacking over!
