If the map is correct, Vilnius was closer than Minsk.

I suspect EU protestations will be about as successful as our Eurovision entry.

Following the replies on FR24's twitter - there are indications that there were 4x Russian operatives on the flight as well.

On some Ryanair routes , the airports are actually further from the advertised city than Minsk is from Vilnius.

Belarus opposition protestor was on the flight.


Belarus ATC have instructed it to land in Belarus due to an unspecified security threat to the aircraft.

Police have then boarded to search the aircraft and surprise surprise arrested the opposition protester.

Lesson - if you are wanted as a fugitive in a country. Don’t take flights that over fly that country.....
