It's not really the fo'c'sle though, that's enclosed, one deck below.
There's never any need for anyone to be standing there, so there are no stanchions and netting/webbing.
There is a hatch right at the very pointy bit to access the outside from the lower deck, bit it's not big and they really don't like people out there when at sea! There's never any need for anyone to be standing there, so there are no stanchions and netting/webbing.

Nice pics.
I've never noticed the two-tone paint job on T45s before, what's that all about?
The shell is painted grey, the decks have a coating on them, and the black stuff is RAM, radar absorbent material. As I understand it, it's not there for stealth purposes, as such, i.e. reducing RCS, it's more to stop the LRR (the big radar on the back) cooking anyone inside the foremast over time.I've never noticed the two-tone paint job on T45s before, what's that all about?

And it lands on the deck right above the bower anchor hawser, it's really only for escape and evac, it'll very rarely be used.tonyvid said:

I have not seen what was actually fitted to the ships and how the crew use it.

Yes, two-tone grey; grey-grey and blue-grey.
Here is Dragon in all grey-grey (and all the smarter for it) for comparison. Just curious

I think that dragon is the tackiest looking thing I've ever seen on a warship. Here is Dragon in all grey-grey (and all the smarter for it) for comparison. Just curious

We watched them putting it on, and assumed it was just there for the launch and they'd take it back off.

Have you not seen the big painting of Peter Duncan on the bow of HMS Duncan?
One of my old colleagues, now retired, and a very experienced naval architect, happened to have the same first name as me.A scottish one, that begins with D.
He was also very eccentric, and sent a letter to someone rather important, suggesting that they should change Duncan's name to ours.
Unsurprisingly, he didn't receive a response.
