I'm looking at a Rinker 27 for my son, his man maths is the difference in fuel cost for a 350 cu in petrol against the increased cost of buying a diesel will pay for plenty of hours.

Looks like £20,000ish will buy a goodish one. they are 8'6" so can be trailered, two couples can sleep on it. Any experiences or other sigggestions welcome

Which 27? If its the 270 Fiesta Vee, then it's not trailerable they're too heavy. That's not to say there haven't been 270 towed around, I know 1 that got towed to Greece behind a shogun, even I have towed 1, but only a mile to a slip way, but wouldn't be good if caught. 262 or 276 were though. Up until 7 or 8 years ago the dealership I work in were Rinker importers. I didn't have that much to do with 270s, they were on they're way out when I started, but we sold a few 280s with 5.7 V8s in and they went fine. They were never speed boats, but would do 35+ kts. The boats themselves were built fine. Never the last word in quality, but no different than any similarly priced American sport cruisers. They were good value though.
