There are 2 of them at Kefalonia airport. Military type vehicles behind them and military markings but they are not on the Hellenic airforce Wikipedia page.
They are a bit odd looking. Not usual light aircraft trainers I have seen before.

Need to be careful taking pictures of Greek military aircraft…

Designed as a crop sprayer but can be used to drop any sort of liquid - so also used as firefighters.

They are ugly looking, but sound glorious (imo, my house is near the airport so can hear them regularly). How old is your pic OP? One of them crashed a few weeks ago whilst I was there, seems they've replaced it already.. https://greekreporter.com/2021/08/08/fire-fighting...

That's what I thought at first - the cockpit and top cowlings are very similar to an AT-300, but the gear arrangement is different. As above, it's a PZL Mielec M-18B Dromader (I'd never heard of it either...)

Crop dusters all seem to end up looking rather similar.

Their heyday was more in the 1960s and 1970s. Since then, the rather indiscriminate use of pesticides has been curtailed somewhat and those that are used are applied a bit more precisely.

Some American crop dusters -

Piper PA-25 Pawnee

Aero Commander Thrush Commander

Grumman AgCat

They use the Pawnee for banner towing up and down the Gulf beach.

There's a hint of Gloster Gladiator in that...

I can't imagine they'd carry enough water to be much use in a forest fire.

That's not what they were designed for. They were primarily crop sprayers. However, they can be used on small fires or as marker aircraft for the big boys.

There are some quite heavily armed counter insurgency versions of the “crop sprayer” types, often supplied by the US under military assistance/foreign sales.
