Cyclades in September

The Meltemi still haunts me 30 years after a dreadful August trip to the Dodecanese, but I still want to sail the Cyclades. Is third week in September significantly less risky, or just a bit? If you know the area, are there any (bareboat sail) yacht charter companies operating from Mykonos you’d recommend?
