Hurricane near Duxford

I’ve been doing a bit of work in sawston this week ,very close to Duxford,seen a Hurricane stooging around on several occasions-lovely!!
Seen the two seater Spitfire a couple of times aswell-my work mates are not the slightest bit interested ffs.

I used to work on Granta Park, up near Abington, driving past Duxford every day and sometime hearing the aircraft up aloft are the only things I miss from working there.

I’m on the flight path so regularly see the
Spitfires. I still get up from my desk and go outside to see them. Anyone who isn’t moved by them must be dead inside.

Just be careful not to shout 'Spitfire!' when it's a P-47...

I'm there most weeks including this lunchtime and that or the Spitfire are pretty much always flying. Saw it today, er thought it was the Spitfire? Was far more noisy (nice noise) than usual.

Must be a huge number of hours on those airframes now, which is a good thing.

I agree about the spitfire being noisier-sounded fantastic

I live fairly close to Daedalus. I see and hear the Spitfire multiple times, most days. The flights usually finish with the aerobatic element directly in front of my property. I will never tire, or fail to look up. We bought my FIL a 30 minute flight, and due to lockdown and health issues, he only took it last year, and it was worth every penny. There will be a day when you won’t be able to do it any more. My mum in law goes up in the Harvard in June, she’s sooo excited.

Comes over here once a week if I'm lucky. I usually run out shouting "V12, listen to that!". Weekend it was doing some loops etc, wonderful. Funnily enough it seems more exciting over my house than watching an air show where I'm expecting to see one.

I pass duxford very often and alway look for anything in the air-sometimes get lucky and something interesting will be taking off,and as I’m in a lorry I can see over the fence!!

I was on a cycle near Duxford a few years back when one of the airshows was on. Having a flight of something like 10 hurricanes/spitfires flying at what felt like 100ft is something I won't forget in a long time!

Its wonderful to have the spitfire from Biggin Hill come over the house. Such a lovely sound.

Likewise where I live, get one in summer, seems like it's doing a show for one of the neighbouring villages fetes. About 10-15 mins of utter aural bliss of a RR Merlin. Usually departs the display over the paddock at the end of our garden.

I love it when people say “the Spitfire” as if there’s only one

I work at Wattisham, and when “a” Spitfire flies over the sound certainly stands out against the endless drone of the Apaches. They’re more
Like combined harvesters when compared to the music of a Merlin or Griffon.

I’m between there and Goodwood so like you see them most days, an ex colleague works for them so gets the occasional trip the lucky chap.

Regarding people taking note of them, I was on a work call with my colleague the other day who lives near the airfield and even she stopped and then replied “sorry the spitfire flew over”.

I think it’s easy to forget just how lucky we are to see these wonderful aircraft.
