Leefe Robinson took off from Sutton Farm (later to become RAF Hornchurch) next door to what is now Damyns Hall Aerodrome and was the first person to shoot an airship down over the UK. Millions of Londoners watched the burning ship crash and he became a national hero, received a gong from the King… unfortunately Spanish flu killed him in his early 20s…

The Goodyear Blimp was recently operating from Damyns Hall Aerodrome and I was lucky enough to meet up with it during a flight in the Quattro Air Harvard.
