Our SU-22 has been returned to us from the station museum as the camp is closing, thought people would like to see some close up pics of one, as I certainly had never seen one until I worked here.
Believe it’s a Fitter M model, ex Luftwaffe.
Sorry no cockpit shots as a) you need hydraulics and b) it’s weather sealed

Cool as a cucumber that, thanks for sharing. What's the plan for it now? (And where is it currently?)

That'd sit nicely alongside the 2 Migs at Newark which isn't far away.

EDIT
I don't think that's at Scampton is it?

You've had that a good few years now.

I understand you can't say where/when, but I presume with Scampton closing you have had to find a new base to move to as you'll loose the fire cover and ATC etc with the base closing and the Reds moving down the road to Waddo?

I can’t remember what year it was but I remember seeing them at RIAT, 2014/15? Of their time but impressive to see none the less.
This one looks a bit weather worn but great to have one in the country for people to see. Hopefully it finds a new home

Yes it's at Scampton, and the owner hopes we can buy our site and keep all our non flying assets on site, but thats in the lap of the MOD, Council, and the buyers, Otherwise we have to find storage for quite a few airframes

I was on site when it flew in in the mid 2000's. We already have a new base to fly from, but we never really operated from here, other than currency hours, we always deploy for work

Presume main engineering base was Scamps though, so will that have to move to new base, or will you have to undertake anything more than line work at deployed bases as well?
I see ZZ190 is up today smile

Here’s one I saw recently at Albuquerque national nuclear museum (along with a load of other planes, B52, B29 etc., all in perfect nick!).

Admittedly alot of Russian jets of that era look quite similar, superficially. Fitter, Fishpot, Fishbed etc

Hungary was never part of the USSR. It was in The Warsaw Pact though.
