Apparently, they aren't putting the outer wings back on.

And they are halting any further restoration work on the Hampden.

Is that in anticipation of the vast remodelling planned at Cosford which will inevitably mean its less interesting for an aircraft enthusiast and more of a family day out type of venue?

Is this the Loch Ness Wellington that was displayed at Hendon in as found condition for many years?

No, the Loch Ness Wellington is at Brooklands (and always was). You're confusing it possibly with the Halifax.

Where did you read that Eric?

Sounds like a stupid idea.

This is the Wellington that has been in the possession of the RAF Museum since the 1950s. It was last used as a T10 trainer - with turrets removed. It was placed into storage for many years prior to the RAF Museum opening in 1972. It was repainted in World War 2 Bomber Command colours but was turretless for many years. By the 1990s, it had turrets fitted.

A few years ago, it was transferred to the restoration facility at Cosford for a complete refurbishment.
They have all of this aircraft so it amazes me that they have decided, deliberately, not to attach the wings outboard of the engines.

Edited - my mistake - the wings will be going back on by 16 May (according to the RAF Museum website).

Thanks ettore, my mistake.
