Officials at North Charleston Base, South Carolina are asking the public for information on the whereabouts of a missing F35B. Apparently a "mishap" meant the pilot had to eject somewhere over two lakes north of North Charleston but the current location of the plane remains unknown.
The pilot is receiving treatment in hospital and is reported as being stable.

Local congresswoman Nancy Mace said: “How in the hell do you lose an F-35? How is there not a tracking device and we’re asking the public to what, find a jet and turn it in?”

Finders keepers?

They must have tracking info to the point of impact?!

Unless something really catastrophic happened... in which case I doubt you'd able to eject anyway?

Being stealth I can see the difficulty in radar tracking it, but why the hell did the wingman not stay with it to see where it was headed?

Maybe the wingman was following (circling) the ejected pilot, to see where he landed.

It should be noted the USA lost a nuclear bomb over Georgia in 1958 and still haven't located it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1958_Tybee_Island_mi...

They don't have a great track record of finding things, F-35, Nuclear Bomb, Steve Fossett, missing election votes...

Fill to the top, add drop tanks, point it at Moscow, say whoops.

If it's gone into one of those lakes, it might just stay lost..... laugh

One of the safety tips from that article reads . . .

Don't swim between dusk and dawn because alligators are more active at night, and splashing can mimic prey

Are you kidding me?! I wouldn't even want to step in a puddle in those them parts! biggrin

Looks Like the search plane FOXX840 is circling around one particular area. Curiously close to Hemingway-Stuckey Airport.
