The funny bit to me looking at the wider shot is that not only did they almost ram his house which is most definitely on solid land well out of the way, but the house is the only building visible in the shot so it's almost like they aimed for it on purpose.

To be fair, I don't suppose it was one of those long, lazy type of waking moments, just gradually drifting awake, being greeted by the early morning birdsong, slowly weighing the allure of the toasty duvet against that all important need for a freshly ground cup of coffee.No, I'd say it was more becoming violently awake after being jolted out of bed onto the floor, becoming aware of a maelstrom of grinding noise, klaxons and vibration, and realising that you're screaming "What the actual fjørk is fjørking going on?" at the top of your lungs.

"An astonished neighbour watched as the ship, which was travelling at about 16 knots (approximately 30km/h), headed straight for the shore into Johan Helberg’s garden, narrowly missing his house.
Helberg, who lives in Byneset, near Trondheim, awoke to his neighbour ringing his doorbell. He looked out of his window to see the ship’s bow.
“I went to the window and was quite astonished to see a big ship,” Helberg told the Guardian. “I had to bend my neck to see the top of it. It was so unreal.”

So no it wasn't the ship itself, it was his doorbell being rung that woke him.
