When I went to clean the boat recently after its winter sojourn the bathing platform was encrusted with duck poo. It took quite a lot of pressure washing to shift it.

How can I stop ducks from using it as a toilet? They've already started crapping on it again...

Duck st is basically mud, just wet it to soften, then come back to it with the washer a few minutes later.

Ducks hate fire. If you set it on for the ducks will stay away.

My nemesis is seagulls. They hate string at wing level so every time I leave the boat I have a cat's cradle of string on the boom, foredeck, sprayhood, aft deck etc. It's a pain to set up but it's easier than removing seagull turds. I have two boats on adjacent moorings that don't go out very often (/at all) so I leave polite notices asking the gulls to crap on them instead.

Done that. But I don't plan to cart the pressure washer up every time I go...

No seagulls luckily but a physical device to stop them getting on has to be the answer (I don't use the platform for anything). I thought about some anti-pigeon spikes that you see on buildings.

Use a scrubbing brush? You have a boat in a muddy ditch, there are ducks, duck st on horizontal surfaces is a feature of the product.

Actually, you can come and scrub the ruddy thing clean every week! This the first season it's happened.

I can save you some money there; the owl definitely doesn’t work!

That's not actually a stupid idea - in a stroke of brilliance the manufacturers made it inaccessible from inside the boat! But it would look a bit funny without one. I've found some anti-bird spike strips so if the little buggers are still at it I shall get one.

Sorry.

"...but to do that would require the services of two Baldricks, one at each end, and frankly one is quite enough."

I can’t believe I missed this one:

You just need to use more antifowl.

Sorry, again.
