June '26 saw the Fred Olsen Brave Tern vessel make a balls up in the port of Esjberg hitting another ship with the blades, and then clatter in to a container cranes, snapping the blades.

(not her first 'issues' in ports.... https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_vDbORzsJB0 )

and yesterday the Cadelar Vessel seemingly drifted and clouted the box ship unloading and took out the shore container crane.

Is the 'wind ship' the one with the metal columns sticking up? If so how do they work?

Yes.

Standard arramngement for the WTIV's (Wind Turbine installation Vessels), that I can happily bore you about for long time.
this one is a reasonable size, 10yrs old or so, and the ship sails conventionally to the location offshore, lowers the legs down, until they (or the large foot at the bottom of each leg) touches down in the sea bed, and by continuing to 'lower' it actually then lifts the vessel out of the water. Makes a stable platform to then raise the main crane and assemble the wind turbine.

In this instance she was being used to build the bottom par, or foundations.

OK, I'm the victim of poor terminology. I thought a 'wind ship' was a ship powered by wind, which would explain why, if they're that big, they kept hitting things...

My poor desciption perhaps - Wind Construction Ship.

These have been around for a long time. This one is maybe 2/3rd ths size of the latest and greatest.
The MAIB found the Esberg to be operator error.
I've seen a video of this incident in the Tyne, and she simply drifts across and into the box boat. With her DP2 arrangement etc, one has to start to assume again - operator issues.

Still no good - the ship doesn't construct wind. It's a wind turbine construction ship!

Scrump's on good wicket-keeper duties today.

There's a disturbing number of crew out there who probably shouldn't be, at least not without some refresher courses.

How do you mean ? I know you’re from a similar field- what is the concern you have / hear ?

FWIW I have no link with either of the WTIV firms
