What aircraft is this?

Sorry for the awful photo. It's been flying low in loops most of the day.

Any ideas? I'm guessing it's map/aerial photos but google fu broken and not showing on FR

Possibly an ATR 72? I think there are some military versions with the sensor boom sticking out the back.

There's a maritime patrol version of the ATR-72 but the tail boom is nowhere near that long. The boom looks more like an Atlantique 2 but but the body looks too skinny at this angle.

A loop can be both. Probably why it’s not in CAP413.

I always look on an aircraft loop as a vertical manoeuver rather than a flat manoeuver.

If an aircraft is flying in circles, then I would look on it as flying a circle or a circuit or a pattern (if in America).

Yep - although a racetrack pattern tends to be two long straights connected by curved ends -

That looks about right. Off the coast of Brittany too. That might make sense?

If you’d put the location in your original post I imagine everyone would have said Atlantique

However in future use adsbexchange instead of flightradar as military, coastguard and police generally have requested to not be visible on FR24 but adsbexchange shows all. Pressing “U” in the top right corner will also filter military aircraft.
