My mates Fairlane

Funniest thing was helping him correct his steering problem. He managed to get the wheel to steer left and make the boat go right, when he changed the steering gear. He got the steering box inputs upside down, when he was putting in the new cable. biggrin A quick spannering sorted that out.
He managed to get the new Volvo engine on the starboard side in all right though. We took it for a quick blast up Loch Lomond and back. Nothing broke, but the electrics to certain auxilliary stuff needs looking at. ie. the main bilge pump wiring seems to be buggered, but hot wiring it works, so we suspect the float is knackered. The echo sounder claims Loch Lomond is three feet deep all over, so we will have to look at that too.
Apart from all that, it was a fun blast, first time the engines were wound up to max revs.

My Dad nearly had one a number of years ago, ended up getting a Colvic 28 ?!?!?!

Never mind, common sense prevailed unfortunately

Fairline 26 Fury from the early / mid 80s I reckon

I reckon some of the early Olesinski hulls would make great re-engining projects.
Pull out the knackered Aq145s and pop in some D3 190s and they could be the boats they always should have been.

Would also go well with a single KAD43/44/300 but most Furys were twin engine so the transom would need major surgery

That's the one. Just had one of the AQ145s replaced. I reckon he should go for twin diesels too, but it's all money. He reckons boating is like standing fully dressed in a shower handing out £50 notes.

yesEvery single bill i've had this year... readityikesweeping and it hurts even more when the £50's you are parting with are going to some smug tosser who thinks you are utter scum as you don't have more than 2 decks on your boat!

RumRunner, you will no doubt be able to guess who I refer to!
