Let me start by saying I know nothing about boats except the rowing kind so forgive me if I appear ignorant, its purely because I am.

I was skimming through the classified and I came across the above boat, and although its old it seems like it would be a lot of fun for the money. Now I'm sure their are potential pitfalls with a boat like this but I can't see them, would maintainence be a major issue or why is a boat that looks like it could be a lot of fun so cheap??

The reason I ask is that I have always wanted a fun-boat but have always been afraid to go for it because my brain says if its that cheap there must be something wrong with it. Am I wrong??

I used to have a 14 1/2 foot Summs Super V with a 65HP Evinrude engine on it, I paid £1500 when I bought it and sold it 9 years later for £1500 after having loads of fun. For me age means nothing but condition means everything so if you go for it check out the engine, hull condition, instruments, trim functions etc and do not buy it unless you get a test run in it first. Plenty of boats around like this for similar money and all great fun

Providing the engine works and the boat floats I can't see much of a problem.
