Work to get boat up to DOT Charter Spec?
Discussion
As some of you may know I have access to a Westerly Oceanranger in the Solent area, whilst my parents own it at the moment they are making noises about having it transfered over to me.
Whilst I pay for all the costs bar the mooring fee, I am thinking than when I am eventually responsible for all the cost I could offset the running costs with chartering the thing out in the solent area.
I am aware off the DOT requirements for varying distances from safe refuge/ports etc and the number of passengers/person that the boat can sleep.
What are peoples thoughts on the distance/rating that I should be looking at. With a maximum weekly of or fortnightly charter period the maximimum distance I could see charters going would either be cross channel, west country or to the east?
If anyone does boat preperation or charter management, or has done the same thing then I would be happy to hear from them.
I am aware of the pitfalls of chartering the boat out, but this is to supplement running costs not as a business!
Cheers
