Just wondered how many people here own / share / have access to a private boat?

Random question, just curious!

I don't but my parents had 3 during my childhood in the early 1980's.

They had an eTap 20, a Moody 27 and finally a Moody 29. They bought me a Humber dingy with a 9hp Yamaha which was much more fun biggrin

I had a play on a thundercat class boat over the weekend (my cousin works for a company which runs a few). They're a lot of fun - very battered and bruised though. Power to weight of 340hp / 1000kg IIRC.

EFA: 340 - not 360.

Over the years my parents had a Colvic 28, Broom 35 Sedan, Princess 385 then a Princess 460.

Their recent divorce means there is no longer a big play thing in the family frown

My younger brother has a 5.5m Sports Fishing boat which he takes to sea quite often.

I have access to a 460 smile Used to go out on it every fortnight through the 'season'. Having young kids and a wife with a morbid fear of the sea has put stop to that frown but still get out about 3 or 4 times a year.

The owner just sold out for £20m and mentioned upgrading his boat
(woohoo and woohoo) hehe

We do, its a ski boat, apparently it has a very powerful engine. We've only taken it out once on Loch Earn, my Dad and I loved it but my Mum thinks its too fast, she wants a chug chug cruiser boat.

In fairness, when I was looking for the boat (on their behalf) the 460 was just brilliant value for money. 3 seperate cabins and 2 heads, large flybridge and fairly modern looking. You have a BIG jump in price to get something better IMO.

But when you have £20m at your disposal who cares hehe

Have fun Fubar, I miss playing around on boats. I cycle past a marina every day...dreaming....

If your friend needs a crew on his next boat, give me a call biggrin
