Morning all,

As the title suggests - im keen to buy one or the other depending on deep water mooring / marina space availability.

Anybody here have one of the above? If so, do you like? Good points/bad points, singlehanded ok?

Anything similar worth a look - benteau 1st 21.7 for example?

All advice appreciated

cheers dave

Jeanneau are owned by Beneteau. As a consequence, the build quality issues with Jeanneau's in the late 1990's have disappeared.

I have not sailed either of the boats you are looking at, but experience says that the Beneteau will be a little more "sporty" (ready "tippy"!) than the Jeanneau.

Sorry to bump a bit of an old thread but I see that nobody answered and i do own a Sunfast 2000. I keep it on the Minho river in Spain, that's the river that is the Northern Portuguse border. The river is shallow and the lifting centrebord/rudder is essential. My wife and I have stayed overnight in it, which with a bit of preparation is possible. There is plenty of room in the cockpit as required for a daysailer, and it sails and motors well.

The jib is small so easy to handle. Due to the ballast/centreboard system it is a bit tippy for the non sailors, but it is fine for what I want (I race an RS400 in the UK)Mine has the spinnaker and the comfort pack. The only probs have been the cabin hatch is awkward, and my mainsail does not set very well, and the mast is a bit of a nuisance to get up and down so I leave it at the Tui marina all year. Mine has a small panel to keep the battery charged which is a useful bonus. The previous owner was a pretty handy chap and fitted or changed a few bits.

If you want any other advice let me know.

Out of interest if it has a lifting keel why can't it be kept on a drying mooring?
