Was busy soaking up the rays last week when this thing turned up and basically blocked the sun/moon/universe...

turns out it was Eugene Shivdler. Apparently Abramovich GAVE it to him a couple of years ago when he took delivery of Pelorus... it has a yacht, a motor boat, a helicopter and a sub on board.. nutshehe

Well Abramovich has 3 others and one more building (162+m Eclipse) so I'm sure he could afford to, probably cheaper to give as a gift than paying as a yearly bonus..........actually he might be asking for it back if the reported losses he has suffered are true.

Ben seems like you know St.Lucia well. I spotted that to, she was anchored off Pigeon Island as well for a few days as well.
Thought you might like this, Petit Piton form Ladera/ Dasheene.(one of the most amazing small discreet retreats in the world.
www.ladera.com .
I am sure you know now it anyway Ben.

Wow, that looks great. I would love to have more time to explore.
Pigeon Island is nest to Sandles isn't it? I have been many times to a bar called Spinakers the other end of the beach.

Yeah Pigeon Island is next Sandals( Good bar on Pigeon Island Is Captain Cellars, the owner Mike is from the U.K, you get proper old school rum measures at old school prices a very special place.
Good friends of mine own spinnakers bar.We have had a few beery / Rummy trips over to Martinique on there charter boat in the last few months.Plus a very glazed memory of this Christmas day in Marigot bay on her.
This is the website www.spiritofthewind.net he does day charters as well as skippered and bareboat,. Hopefully the website works ok as my wife has only just finished it!!!.
Ben if you do go back that way and you have time to explore I can always put you in the direction of some good but cheap places to stay etc. I lived there for 2 years then off and on for some period every year since 98. Luckily i have just got back about 2 weeks ago from a nice 4 months there.
Expensive though now with £ being worth anything as you will probably know, good if earning U.S.D !!!.

Hi Dienamic
Well the main choices are going South

Rodney Bay, Pigeon Island side of that is the best.
Marigot bay.
Anse Cochon ( Day stop can get swell), wreck dive there, good snorkeling.
North end of Canaries beach there is one mooring ball its a nice quiet day stop.
Anse Chastnet/ Anse Mamin( swell now and again)but best snorkeling probably on the island.
Soufriere near the bat cave, North end of the bay( though had the oddd incident there in the past)
Magletoute Beach North of Petite Piton south end of Soufriere bay.
Last but not least the amazing Jealouse beach between the Pitons.

After the Pitons there are other nice places like Laborie and Choiseul but it gets more exposed after you turn the corner of the Pitons and reefy .Vieux Fort is a commercial shipping port really at the bottom of the Island so nothing special.

If you get bored after the Pitons if you got back North go to Martinique. Check out at customs first but its only 21miles to Le Marin in Martinique from Rodney Bay( St.Anne side of Le Marin bay is best).

Going South from the Pitons is harder work the St.Vincent Channel is about 27 miles and can be very windy and rough off the North of St.Vincent due to the Volcano. Also St.Vincent has had quite a lot of incidents recently so best going back North, unless you go straight to Bequia and into the Grenadines. Remember to check out though first is you do go south. You can leave the Pitons at first light in a average 40ft boat and check in , in Bequia mid to late afternoon.

As matter of interest what type of boat are you putting into charter. Contact me via e-mail as i may be able to help in various ways if you wish.

thumbupCheers! I'll have a look at them, seems there'll be plenty to see. A busy holiday, doing nothing is just my cuppa tea! I presume there's much more to it over there than in the Ionian where she's based now? At the moment navigation is all line of sight, with no tides and very predictable winds. The thought of the carribean is still a bit daunting! Hopefully going to get to take her across with the ARC next year too, so could be some quality boaty times ahead!

.

Its easy sailing in general so don't worry,it can get rough between the Islands but they are relatively short distances (Reaching in general)daylight passages. The wind comes for the East everyday sometimes with a little North or a little South.
Seas warmer that's for sure, bit more life in it to.

Enjoy !!
