As the space station thread is here I'll take this place as Boats Planes Trains & Space.

With apologies in advance for any minor errors in translation as the account is a bit confused - in this case the story is that the lady of the house was taking care of a young relative on the afternoon of 23rd, at which point a meteorite decided to make an entrance landing on the bed of their Phitsanulok home in north-ish Thailand. The missus thought it was a bomb, the man of the house thought he was very lucky as it missed everybody by landing on their bed. The piece of asteroid was about 3 inches by 2.5 inches, massa approx 200 - 300g and left a five inch hole in the roof. Er in drawers said it was still warm (the meteorite) and had a hot smell.

Once again, it missed, somebody up there has a bad aim wink

There is total confusion as to where space related topics go on PH at the moment.
It seems anything to do with a spacecraft should go here.
Anything to do with telescopes can go either in "The Lounge" or in the "Binoculars" forum.
Anything to do with space itself (and possibly space travel - but not mentioning spaceships) goes in "The Lounge".

Ah, looks like the guess was wrong. Should be in The Lounge. Even so, is there anybody else in here remotely interested in astronomy and space flight threads?!

I do know that when a space related topic cropped up tn the old P&P it would elicit a reasonable number of replies.

In the new fragmented world of PH I doubt if they will to the same extent.

Not knowing where to post space stuff certainly doesn't help.

I've been trying to persuade the mods to put all Space stuff into The Lounge but they aren't listening and don't really seem to care.

I'm not keen on a dedicated Space forum either as PH's problem at the moment is that there are too many forums in the first place.

Meanwhile...later reports suggest a sonic boom near the site, not unusual, and more suspected meteoritic samples have been found nearby. Looks like a fairly big lump ~ 1 kg (?) made it through most of the atmosphere then broke into pieces.

I used to have a girlfriend who lived near Phitsanulok . yes

Even now, 20 years later, I still remember that address, and the godawful hassles I had getting to it from the airport!

You've got a good memory for addresses - and yes quite a journey.
