Hi Guys

I just received an email from LCY saying BA are going to operate an all business service to JFK.

So far, so boring.

But halfway through I noticed BA are going to use the BA001 flight number for the service. For those of you who don't know, this used to belong to Concorde.

I think this is absolute sacrilege, and can't believe BA are disrespecting their heritage by using BA001 for a half assed service. I'm very disappointed.

It's just a number.

Concorde was just a plane. A bloody quick one, granted, but pokey and uncomfortable with it.

You might like to start a petition on the Downing Street website urging the Prime Minister to intervene. OK, you might not get more signatures than the road pricing petition, but if Brown is prepared to lower himself to public displays of emotion for the bird off Britain's got talent, you never know!

You're joking?

You can't actually be upset about BA using a flight number that belonged to a Concorde flight? Was it never used before Concorde came along?

Heaven forbid!

I trust you'll be boycotting BA then, and begin paying to take a slash on another carrier as a consequence..

If they keep going at this rate, you won't need to boycott it. What was it, £400M loss?

You tit.

BA will have enough problems getting an A318 stopped at LCY on the way back across the pond from JFK on a regular basis.....and you're disappointed they're not offering the service in a sodding Concorde?

No, you tit, I am disappointed that they are reusing the flight number for a fairly humdrum service. Not because they are not flying Concorde out of City.

And why not? the passengers (you know the ones paying for luxury travel) deserve the best as they will be certainly paying for it.

Anyway, good luck to them, an innovative idea. Leave your (top) office in the city, 25 mins max your on the 'bus and on your way. Short hop to Shannon, as its filled up you clear US customs and immigration, back on. Up to cruise, socialise with your fellow Pax, then NTNT on one of the 32 suites, sleep the journey over then hit the Big A running in the morning having passed through the dreaded immigration etc BEFORE.

Does anyone want to calculate the complete journey time from the city (even with Concorde) including transport to Heathrow and clearing US Customs/Immigration at Kennedy??

Is it BAW1, or BAW001? Zeroes are a pain in the arse.

They currently use BAW1 (zeros were not usually mentioned by crews) for some flights. I would be surprised if BAW1 was given to the LCY flights.

The LCY flights *will* be using the BA0001/2/3/4 numbers.
