I fancy getting my first boat, I'd like a fun runabout, maybe for a bit of Ski-ing, and even a bit of fishing.

Question is do I get a rib or a speedboat? Anyone able to give me any much needed advice.

( £5K budget if that helps)

RIBs can take a great deal of punishment

but also budget for at least RYA level 2 powerboat training and some safety gear and a mobile phone is not a replacement for a proper VHF

A RIB is far easier to use than a speedboat. I have a 6.5 meter RIB which is huge fun....

Have a gander at the Ribnet forum, you'll pick up a lot of info there and, as advised above, taking RYA 2 would be valuable.

I have a RIB for sale at the moment if you're interested?

Brand new, never been used, never had an engine fitted.

Bought a year ago for some fun, never got around to using it. On a brand new trailer.

Just needs and engine, looking for £5k for the boat and trailer, happy to take a loss on it to get it out of the way!

pm me if you're interested.
