More comfortable than the Pitts S2 (and certainly more than the S1) at the expense of not being quite as focussed - although there have been a couple punting around on the competition circuit (notably by an ex-Red Arrow a few years ago, but then he got to play with the BBMF's kit and hasn't been seen since).
The good news is that the Eagle will be on an LAA Permit, hopefully meaning your maintenance overheads will be smaller than something operating on a CofA or a CAA Permit.

Always fancied building one of those - always loved the "feathers" paint scheme (copyrighted by creator Frank Christensen when the Eagle was launched)

I used one as a photo platform for an air-to air shoot once, not many biplanes with as spacious a cabin as an Eagle for that purpose.

Funny you should say that. It has 9 colours which make it expensive. And I think a little old fashioned. We are trying to keep costs down and may well just continue with the original builders plans to keep it red and white only with a variation of the Eagle and feathers design. Having said that, for re-sale/valuation purposes the above would be a better option.
I've seen the feathers scheme done in white outline on all-over red and blue examples, that looks pretty great too (and keeps painting simple).
G-EGUL had the feathers done in black and grey on white, that worked pretty well.
I think the Eagle's head and feathers design is pretty timeless. Eagle's without almost look "wrong"!

I was only watching one of these refuelling at Shoreham at lunch, seen it a couple times now. Pretty sure it's the same one in the pictures, the colour scheme down the side was in red>purple though. Looks like a smart little plane.
Was it this one? I think I am correct in saying it is based there.
