One day I'll buy a decent camera, but in the meantime I'll just rely on pot luck. Resized down for forum use, but if anyone wants the originals (heaven knows why you would), just drop me a line.

More to follow later, if I can find any which aren't a blurred image of something with wings, or a whole lot of sky.

The Vulcan was there, and we even got treated to a bit of open taps - proper noise.

Saw the Vulcan passing Worthing yesterday afternoon. Think they'd throttled back a bit but still a magnificent sight.

Great pics!

Nice pics, just returned from there myself (rather sunburnt too, oops!). We were standing right next to where the display Spits and Hurricanes were parked and they sounded fantastic when they all started up. It was nice to see XH558 but I think my highlight was the display by two Blades Lynxes, the things they can do with those choppers.

The only downside is that now I've got 300 or so photos to go through : (

I was being a cheapskate and stood next to the A27 opposite the Sussex Pad. Took 190 pics yesterday and 220 today smile

Love the supercharger whine on these things, but they don't really make me all misty eyed and proud like the British metal.

You sure its supercharger whine? Mustangs are noted for the whistling noise made by air passing over the gunports in certain manouvers such as pulling out of a dive.

Cheers,

That could have been it

I thought the whine was from air going into the radiator.

Heard it from a Mustang pilot at Duxford. Presumably he knew what he was on about. Click on the picture and turn the volume up!

Cheers,

Similar thing with the Hawker Hunter BTW.

You do get a whine from the gunports aswell, although I don't think all Mustangs have theirs as original now. The Hunter Blue Note has come in for some discussion. Some have said it is only the F6. If I remember correctly, that does it, however it doesn't explain why you get a similar noise from the Canberra PR9, with no gun ports.

He (the pilot) was saying the Mustangs without original gunports - ie covered - don't whine. Original spec ones do. Both have radiators. I'd expect air passing over any opening on any vehicle will make some kind of noise.

I think Shoreham as a show is normally up there with any other and I took along my 50D and 70-200 2.8 with a 1.4x, but I got the most st shots I have ever had on a day out frown

We were facing the sun most of the time and the aircraft just seemed to fly down belly up most of the day frown

and only one bloody pass down the flight line from the red Arrows with 5 seconds to have a shot!
