I've always fancied spending a week or two with some friends on a yacht somewhere in the Med, and wondered whether it's possible to hire such craft on a weekly/monthly basis.

So, without having to steal a Sunseeker, does anyone know of such a scheme? smile

Very sexy

What sort of cost would that be for a weekend / week?

Would you need formal sailing experience?

I'll ask on the prices and email you, unfortunately it's skippered charter, but I'm sure you can helm it under supervision.

I've booked a 48ft Sunseeker through these guys which I'm taking out in a couple of weeks. So far they seem very good, but I'll report back after the trip!

price depends on the size a 50' yacht would roughly cost around €2,000-3,000 per day

100' yacht €40,000-60,000 a week

160' yacht € 100,000-200,000 a week

I did a similar thing years ago around the Greek islands.

It was a number of years ago but I seam to remember that if you had the correct sailing qualifications it could be quite good value however it got quite expensive to do if you required a qualified skipper. I was lucky as my uncle was very into his sailing so we managed to do it as a family holiday on a reasonable budget.

Cousin works for these people http://www.nautilus-yachting.com/ who charter yachts with different services based on your experience

Great holiday and well worth doing.

We saw the "Maltese Falcon", that they have listed as a sailing yachts for charter, off the coast of Capri a few weeks ago. Amazing boat to see close up, but 345000 EUR a week..... eek
