A380 Fly-by this Saturday
Discussion
This Saturday afternoon an A380 will be doing fly-by's at various locations across the UK, details of which can be found here: http://www.airport-int.com/news/2009/09/02/airbus-...
I have been lucky enough to fly A380 from DXB to LHR. It is as long as a train, as tall as a building. Very undramatic flying but it did seem to take an age to get up to speed, even with 4 ENORMOUS engines. Yes, they are ENORMOUS.
Standing at one end and looking down the corridor to the other it really makes you realise how large it is. I wasn't rich enough to go upstairs though so cant comment on that.

Saw it today at Hawarden, huge and quiet.
I too went to Hawarden this afternoon & I've never seen such a turn-out........the roads were gridlocked for miles in every direction, there must have been thousands of spectators lining theroads all around the Broughton Airbus factory.I arrived a little early & had the most pleasant surprise of all - the Vulcan XH 558. The Vulcan has not (for obvious reasons) made an appearance here since the mid 1980's when she blew soot down the chimneys of many local residents who later went on to claim damages from the then British Aerospace.
Also saw the Red Arrows, a Jet Provost display of three & very impressive displays from both Spitfires & a D/H Vampire.......it was well worth turning up for the afternoon

I just booked to fly that route return on the A380 in Decemeber on Emirates. Is it sad that i'm looking forward to the flight as much as the trip..??Standing at one end and looking down the corridor to the other it really makes you realise how large it is. Everyone says its the quietness of the aircraft which is most impressive..??

Erm, I guess it depends why you are going? I went for business so no, I would say not. It is an impressive feet of engineering. Not Ideal said:

Cant say I noticed TBH. Flying is as dull as dishwater but as it is a brand new plane, the ICE in the plane is even more superb than their already superb normal ICE system. It is a big factor on which carrier I chose (after price). The BA in flight entertainment sucks rotten eggs.
