I recently flew with Easyjet from Stanstead down to Barcelona. I know we flew towards Reading and then out over a pier, but I'm not certain of the flight path and I like to Google Earth these things nerd

Does anyone know the route we're likely to have taken?

When I went to Valencia we went to the west of London. Not sure of the pier though.

I've got a feeling it's Worthing as it looks the right shape and I saw what I can only assume was Beachy Head in the background.

More than likely it'll be Brighton as you'll route round the western edge of London around Maidenhead and Henley (passing above and west the outbound Heathrow traffic).

Around Ascot / Camberley you'll get turned onto a south easterley heading which will take you over the southern coastline pretty much around Brighton depending on air traffic. Left hand side you'll be able to see along the coast towards Seaford, Beachy Head, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings . . .

French routing is normally west of Paris then down the centre of the country passing Chateroux, Toulouse, over the Pyrenees after which you commence your descent into Barcelona. If you're on the right side of the aircraft and landing on the south-easterly runway, you may catch a glimpse of the Catalunya Circuit . . . !

Bugger, never realised the circuit was that close, I got to know the approach pretty well from laying on the beach smile

Easyjet is fine as long as you get speedy boarding, then you can sit in 2A and pretend you're in first class.

Other passengers look at you with such venom, especially at airports where they call you up by priority and put you ahead of parents with children.

Was heading to Spain earlier in the year.

Checked the “no frills” airlines…

Flight
Tax
Check-in, extra
Baggage, extra
Come back with the same bags, extra
More legroom, extra
Priority boarding, extra
In flight nibbles, extra
Pay by debit card, extra

Compared price to proper carrier.

Booked with proper carrier and saved £98.

We're flying Stansted to Barcelona with Easyjet next week for the total sum (card fees, hold baggage etc.) of 60 quid each... Happy with that, having checked the prices of all the other popular airlines - expected to pay more and put the 'savings' towards a accomodation of a standard we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise at the moment - happy days! smile

On a recent flight from Malaga I hadn't sorted out speedy boarding - resigned myself to being surrounded by screaming children, however soon realised we were being bussed to the plane - managed to get near the bus doors then sneak around to the back steps (which nobody realised you could use) and had my pick of seats!

This is a photo I took in 2007 from a Ryanair flight from Stansted to Valencia. This is as we were going over the south coast. I imagine this would have been the same flightpath you would have taken.

Does this help at all?

Thought you might be interested in these, taken on a Ryanair Flight from Barcelona Girona to Stansted in September 2005.

This is over central France, I believe this is the River Gironde at sunset.

This is on the way to Valencia in January 2007, taken in the early morning over the Pyrinees.
