I'm having a bit of trouble locating a cheap source for the solid oxidant that my rocket engine really likes. I guess I can have it adjusted when I get some of the heat tiles replaced after the next lunar mission but that seems like such a long way off. OTOH, I really don't want to have to lug that thing back and forth to the shop any more than I have to, if you know what I mean...

Any suggestions?

There's a breakers round my way for that sort of thing, the yard is full of Vostok, Titan, Ariane etc. Some Nubian stuff too. Will ask them next time I'm passing by.

Stay off the recreational chemicals.

You'll end up being thrown out of the Space Cadets if you fail a banned-substances test.

I've just noticed this has been moved from general gassing to boats, planes & trains. Am I detecting a bit of someone thinking it was a serious post? biggrin

Our thermodynamics lecturer at uni used to set a question to work out the power of the fuel pumps on a saturn V engine. Most of use thought we'd gone wrong somewhere we worked it out at 50,000 horsepower yikes

As I recall, the pumps themselves were effectively monumental superchargers powered by burning the same fuel as the rocket motor.

Serious stuff.

You mean it isn't?

I find the best tiles are the B & Q Budget Range. They're just as effective as those fancy ons that NASA spend a fortune on.
