Went for a Ittle Chef breakfast then met some guys on top of the Bwlch which was covered in mist
after much talking 8 of us climbed up to various ledges up the hill and at 2pm the first movement (5 hour wait!!) The mist cleared around 11 but it was still ages until something. 2 Hawks dogfighting low level. Then over the next 3 hours we had a fair few hawks, mainly in pairs
meant taking pics was limited to one aircraft each go. Saw two Harriers head through Cad but not come round for us. Later on in the day a Herc went through Cad really low but again didnt show at the Bwlch. Nimrod flew high up above us which was visible at about 8000ft and then some Civvy crap plane decided to stupidly fly through the Bwlch - if only a tornado had come to show him a lesson!
Guessing you didnt go then?
At least it wasnt a blank!!

Thank goodness it didn't! There is an accident report online detailing a Tornado's collision with a low flying civvy plane. Not good.My BiL does the mach loop for a day job. He does wave at spotters!

I saw an aircraft like that from the top of Pen Y Fan a couple of months ago. If not the same reg it was definitely the same type. Don't know if it was a motor glider but it made hardly any noise.
Where do most people go to for the Mach Loop? I'll have to give it a try at some point now that I live in 'The Big Country', but I fear i'm actually a lot further from it that I think (Cardiff).
Still, I got to see a couple of Hawks and then a Tornado beating down the estuary yesterday, so it's not all bad.

Out of interest, in what? Whatever the answer is, i'm cheerfully envious
