Vulcan 50th Birthday Appeal
Discussion
I'm going to stick this in here to get a wider audience, but was everyone aware how much the Vulcan appeal is struggling?
I was amazed to hear the other day that the programme is in danger of being shutdown. Press release here:

It would be very sad to see the Vulcan grounded after all the hard work has gone into it. I can't see any money coming from the government or national heritage organisations can you? Mind you if relations in the South Atlantic don't improve they might be glad of it again.

So if anyone has got a bit of spare cash down the back of the chair this would be a great place to send it:

here, have a can of worms!
there was a big discussion in planes, trains et al about where the money was going and i think a lot of people are giving up on account of the apparent big salaries those running the project are taking supposedly from donations.
personally, its the same as anything that old, a big moneypit. not sure why the government should contribute when we are threadders on ops at the moment already.
the vucan to the sky people snubbed sponsorship but now its come back to bite them. i couldnt care if it has BAE or something all over it if it kept it flying but enough public money has been wasted on it already.
currently at Lyneham but it wont end its days there for obvious reasons so its GOT to fly at least once more unless they ybreak it down and move it from there by road/air

Copied the following from PPRUNE, I am reluctant to offer financial support considering how the money is spent!

£152,000 for 'admin and management?'
£204,000 for revenue generation and VTSE costs?
£202,000 for hangar and office rental?
They all seem absolutely huge to me. How on earth are they paying £202,000 yearly for hangarage for (albeit a fairly large) aircraft and some office space. The cost of revenue generation is stunning. I'd like to see that broken down.
The website says that the VTST employs 12 people full time. When you consider that staff costs excluding aircrew is £400,000, operating costs including aircrew is £458,000, and 'management' is part of a big lump of £152,000, it seems absolutely massive.
They seem to be costs for the sake of costs. Why on earth do they predict 'education' costs at £50,000? I got a damn good education in the seat of the vulcan I was in yesterday, and I payed them for the priveledge!
I always wondered why there isn't a main sponsor for the project, but it just seems like SUCH a financial black hole
