RAF Intercepts the Russians

Great to see the kit being used as intended, but why aren't we summoning the Russian ambassador and asking him to explain what the hell they are playing at.
Or is this viewed as valuable training?

You will probably find they can go up to 12nm from the UK coast or something like that.
I would guess they stay a lot more than that away but that would only be speculation on my part...Don't know what they do over there.
The Russians aren't the only ones that do it.
They probably also won't be dealing with UK Air traffic control either. They look after themselves.

Think this happens more often than we hear about but the press only pick up on it occassionally. For whatever reason the Russian's go through phases of getting closer than they usually do. Just checking if we can still afford the RAF and whether Typhoons have arrived at Leuchars maybe?
They could help themselves to the UK whenever they felt like it. The Army is somewhere else, the Navy is down to its last cabin cruiser and the RAF is about to be disbanded. The population are all busy watching reality TV and texting.
Luckily I don't think we have anything the Russians want.

I wonder if our 'response times' are deliberately slow so that in the event of the real thing we can go 'A-ha ! We are faster than you thought, Ivan pigdog!
I think maybe 30-40 years ago when we had some imagination. Now I fear it is all wrapped up in Policy and response times are most likely available on direct.gov.uk/rafresponsetimesActually,
When then one of the cabs in question went over the top of us, here in the Carse of Gowrie, I think that it was NOT flying to any particular timing schedule but was "buster" and only limited to a maximum of just below M1.
It was still accelerating hard as it pulled up into a slight climb, wings swept back in "fast" mode.
A hunter, unleashed, en route to it's natural domain, hundreds of miles out to sea.

this thread is a weak excuse to post this picture. it does happen a fair bit, they come over, get close, turn around and bother someone else. since vlad got into power, they have stepped up patrols and ICBM activiy. shame the russians arent allowed to wave anymore though....

This would be the Russian Navy who deployed their carrier in a show of force with a number of tug boats to tow it when it breaks down....Luckily I don't think we have anything the Russians want.
