Amusing finds

The other two with my find were A Practical Encyclopedia for Children again 1948 and General Knowledge Illustrated Vol 2. Could not find much on the latter one other than than the introduction had been done by a J.F. Roxburgh founder headmaster of Stowe School. The first page is 377 and starts in the middle of a sentence.rolleyes
They certainly packed some infomation into books those days, but children would find them of little interest nowdays.

Must have been nice, living in a country full of interesting things with a proud heritage they weren't afraid of.

I staggered through 10 minutes of 'Bang goes the Theory' today, the Beeb's tragically dumbed down version of TW. The presenter made Ben Fogle look intelligent; he couldn't even understand the concept of anti-matter. Blue Peter c.1970 would run rings round them.

We've got the same book - inherited from my wife's grandfather.
Along with another couple on how to cure various ailments and one on DIY - including how to decoke your domestic gas engine!
