Anyone with a Sunseeker Predator 58 or similar?
Discussion
Running Costs will roughly be 15 % per annum of the original purchase price increasing with age.
Don't forget other makes Fairline, Princess and many Sunseekers are just a name and they are middle of the road quality wise.
You want a very good surveyor and a full engineers report on the engines with oil sample test.
Very low engine hours, like some cars is not always the best thing.....
Don't worry to much about number of owners...a lot of the time when they change hands more money gets injected in...
Make sure you have a proper paper trail for the boat with original sales invoice if poss for proof of VAT...or if VAT is liable....
Last BILL OF SALE.. to make sure there is not multiple owners which spring out of the woodwork when you have handed all your money to one of the party.....
You maybe better going newer and smaller...
The biggest I have Targa Style is S41 but the boat is simply stunning 2003 but in many ways better than new. I new one will take you 12-18 months to sort the problems...
Some of our lads in the Hamble, Algarve and Spain have a good number of Sunseekers of that size /style.
I do know the Lads that run the above 3 venues, so call me if I can help.
If you are going to use it for Charter (Looking at your Profile),then its a whole different ball game and it is very important you get the RIGHT boat and layout, Crew and coding. You will need help on this if you have not been down this road before...Now the boat has to WORK and tick many more boxes.
I also run a Yacht Charter Brokerage and X skipper myself. I do know of good crew ( Couple Skip & Chef )looking for a new boat run (Presently on 60ft Charter Cat in BVI).
Looking at your profile, I was wondering where you are going to base it given you are based in the North (If its part of business plan).
We are in Pwllheli which is generally your closest and best spot in many many ways if you are planning on doing things close-ish to home.
I don't charge for any of the above, crew placement and advice so as said if I can help...

Simon,
60' boat to berth at Hamble Point is about £16k
Fuel costs on a Predator 58 (assuming twin 800s) will be about 80 gallons per hout flat out or about 40 gallons per hour at cruising speed.
Engine servicing about £800 - £1000 per engine (routine).
Lift out and antifouling / prop clean etc £1500.
Insurance. Couple of thousand.
Cleaning. Maybe £1000 for a full valet and polish.
All of the above are minimums and could be more if/when things start to need replacing.
Have experience of working with a charter compamy that had a Predator 56, Squadron 55, Squadron 58 and Manhattan 64 at varying times. The flybridge boats were always more popular with the customers. Predator 56 favourite with the skippers as great to drive.
Can help with selection / survey / coding inspections.

Predator 60 listed here. I believe the 60 is the same as the 58 but with the extended platform. Running costs are not as bad as you think.
http://www.moorebrokerage.com/current_listings.php
Largest cost assuming nothing major goes wrong on the boat will be the mooring fees.
Where are you looking to berth her?
