Fighting the Red Baron - Channel 4 Friday 9pm

Yep, looking forward to it.
Hopefully it will be accurate and not too dumbed down. That said, an ace will be an ace regardless of the era he finds himself in. But whilst we may have very well trained and very good pilots, I doubt few if any have been in dogfights or even air to air combat, so the 'ace' potential remains unknown.

It was entertaining but as you say I'm not sure how much of the historical accuracy was there...they were seemingly trying to portary the big bad germans as having got all the fighter squadrons and experience in before WW1....the history may have been vague but then i guess it wasn't a documentary just docutainment.

From where I wonder? Both sides at the start of WW1 saw planes simply as scouts and for artillery spotting. Then they thought it would be a good idea to try to knock down the enemy scouts... 'and then the fight started', as they say.Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
