Unusual Aircraft Spotted

No pictures, I'm afriad, but an ID would be appreciated.

Monday evening, East Midlands Airport. About three minutes apart, two planes took off. Each was dark grey, with two tail-mounted jets, and what looked like a black canopy, but could have been a radar pod thing. No markings, other than a simple red bar on the tail. I'm also struggling with scale; they could have been fighter-jet sized but I think they were larger.

Any ideas?

Hmm. Could be. Different colour, and that pod looks a little too far back on the fuselage, but then I don't have a photographic memory.
