F22 Raptors

Bit random and probably not worth asking the question, but I live in Clacton (boooo ) and in the last two weeks I've seen two pairs of F22 Raptors go over reasonably low (not proper low-level, but not specs in the sky). There's never been much military activity other than the airshow and the air-sea rescue heli's here, anyone know if they have a new route that comes this way or something?

Two were at Fairford over the weekend, they left just before 7pm this evening, and went for the long route along the south coast/Kent before heading back up to Lakenheath. There have been a further two that are at Lakenheath, the 4 arrived just over a week ago.

Sounds about right then, as they'd come from the coast and were heading North/North-Eastish. The ones the other week were too, but they were higher.

I will stand corrected by those in the know, but there was mention of them being based over in Germany, so could be them on their way home...

They flew over here last Monday week from the US, with what I believe were a pair of KC-10s (Mildenhall) and a C-17 (Lakenheath) support.

All 4 Raptors initially went into Lakenheath, then early last Thursday two flew into RIAT Fairford and were based there for the weekend.

I believe the two that remained at Lakenheath were up and about last week.

The two that were at Fairford then left this evening routing back around the South Coast to Lakenheath.

I don't know whether they are going to undertake any further excercises or leave later this week.
I have not heard of them being based in Germany at all.
