Afternoon Vic, Thursday and Friday are normally a bit quieter than the weekend. I think the local council has suspended parking fees on the seafront so you might be able to find something along there if your're early.
Otherwise there is a park and ride scheme set up just along the seafront on the main road in to Eastbourne. There will be signs up on the A27 / A22 as you get towards Eastbourne.
As for viewing, anywhere along the seafron will get great views but the centre of attention will be around the Pier up to the Western lawns. The western lawns is where all the static displays will be set up and should have enough things to entertain the kids for a while

No problem at all V. I've been lurking long enough to finally put a post on here.
I'll be moving flats, 5 minute walk away from Western lawns that weekend, so I'll be mostly looking skywards.
As long as the cloud base isn't too low, its a great show, especially as its free. The Red arrows usually put on a really good display, you can get some great photos of them flying low over the pier

Was debating going to this, but, there did not seem to be a lot flying... was it worth it... would have a long drive if I went....There was Red arrows, F16, Spitfire hurricane and Lancaster + battle of Britain memorial. And Mustang, that made a fine noise!
Quite a few different prop planes, whose names evade me as I couldn't really hear the commentary over the dull roar of other people kids.. doing pretty excellent displays and stunts
The Blades? I think they were called? Like a prop red arrows, but blue, very impressive

Worth it for me, I think if you had a long way to go though you would have been pissed off.
I do want to go on sunday as there wasn't enough jets today.
The beach was an excellent place to watch from, the arrows and battle of britain planes coming in from over the town towards the sea was amazing and the view was fantastic. Have viewed from beachy head a couple of times before, that's always good in that its pretty quiet and a lot of the pilots circle overhead whilst awaiting their slots, and some get f

Ah, that'll explain the Merlin-engined thing trying to dislodge my Chimney earlier.
I do wish they'd do a loop first to give me ample time to react, rather than 5 seconds warning; thereby causing me to break myself falling over the dining table/cat/small child in an effort get outdoors to see what it is.
Anyway, Weather is pretty filthy at the moment about 15 miles to the West - don't expect it to clear up tomorrow either.

To be honest its going downhill for the last few years which is a shame. I can't see it getting any better either with the pending cuts.
On saying that I went down today. Couldn't be bothered with the parking in town so plumped for one of the car parks up on Beachy Head. The view was quite distant and you felt quite detached. That said looking down on an airshow is pretty cool.
Then moment of the day.
I've been to a fair few airshows this year and I've been very very lucky in my viewing (usually on the apron with the aircraft directly overhead).
One of the syncro pair from the Red Arrows banked hard around and took a very very low (think 30-40ft) at about 500knots straight over the top of us. There was a definate air of showing off as the pilot was looking straight down at us. There was no way I could get a photo as I had a minimum of 100mm lens. Holy cr@p, even though its a Hawk training aircraft it was amazing the power/menace as it went over. I heard the ripping of the air after it had past but swear to god I heard the air displacement ahead of the aircraft.
I caught this shot as it started its run. OK there is an illusion about it, but on my new born son's life it was no higher than 40feet.
Seriously impressed.
