Hi,

Is anyone going to the British Powerboat Festival at Cowes this weekend? The boats are racing from Cowes to Torquay and back to Cowes amongst other racing throughout the day. The weather’s actually looking quite nice!! I’ll be taking my RIB providing I can get the leaking power tilt cylinder sorted in time.

I’ll be heading out of Lymington but don’t really know where to go to get the best action and conditions. I’m keen to get some good photos. Last time we bobbed around just outside of Cowes but it was pretty rough and really busy so may anchor up somewhere along the race course. Maybe just over near Hurst as it should be a little more sheltered and quieter there.

Watched this last year - from the Isle of Wight. Amazing how far the sound carries on some of the nuttier boats, forgot all about it this year

Dan - some great pics there, 606 Petita showing how wet a ride the huntsman 28 can be, we took ours down to Torquay for the classic rally and came back on Friday, we took the long way round Lyme bay, but Poole bay was lumpy and horrid, we got very wet for 40 mins bashing through it.

BTW, Petita is not the original 606, 606 was originally Seasprey. Unless Petita is Seaspray renamed but I dont think so.

A chum of mine was racing sunday but they gave up at St Albans.

Thanks for your comments Huntsman. Interesting regarding the nane, I'll look into that.

Would love to see some photos of yours. Apparently my old boss also had a Huntsman, but I never saw it. Unfortunately he passed away earlier this year.

Nice shots - I assume you were on a boat too? What camera were you using?

Those chaps in the Ribeye look nice and wet!! I was out on Monday and it was lovely - will try to post a vid.

Here's Monday's weather....

Thanks. Yeah, I was on my RIB. Took the photos with my Nikon D5000 with the Nikon 70-300mm VR II lens. Not the best photos but the boats were really far away! It was too rough to get in too close to Hurst. Yep, the guys on the Ribeye looked pretty wet, as did my passengers on the windward side! smile

The weather on Monday was fantastic but I had already bought tickets for Castle Combe race day so had commited to drive up there. Missed out on the lovely weather on Monday.

I have a very similar video on my Youtube account, although the weather isn't quite so nice!! http://www.youtube.com/user/danyeates5?feature=mhu...
