Discussion
Steve Noujaim left the UK this morning to fly to Capetown and back in a Vans RV-7 homebuilt. Hopefully, he'll be back on Friday!!

Yes, on Friday September 3rd 2010 Steve Noujaim smashed the previous fastest overall time held by Chalkie Stobbart by some 4 hours and 2 minutes, and in so doing set a new record in his Vans RV7 from London to Cape Town and back to London, taking off and landing at Southend. He did it in a time of 3 days 11 hours and 15 minutes while Chalkie's time was 3 days 15 hours and 17 minutes set in 2009. The man who had set the original pioneering record in his Mew Gull, Alex Henshaw, covered the same distance in 1939 in a magnificent 4 days 10 hours and 16 minutes. Although Steve claimed the records for both the London to Capetown leg and the overall time of all three legs, Chalkie still retains the record for the Cape Town to London leg by virtue of the fact that, while being 1 minute faster than Chalkie in completing the leg, Steve did not break it by the prescribed 1% margin.
