I live with a great view of Birmingham airport. Its nice and high up so i can see the planes landing and taking off pretty well. Anyone know where I can find info on anything interesting happening at the airport. In particular when interesting planes are landing taking off. For example they have had a A380 airbus there recently and i would of liked to watch this.!!

PH taking the P matterssmile

No seriously, I live under the North/South landing line in Streetly, I'm well piffed off that I didn't see that big bugger... frown

Far too often see the C17s coming home with our poor guys, casualties en route to Selly Oak.

"Ah yes, I remember it well"

And the BEA Viscounts

And the Aer Fungus Friendships

And those gorgeous and totally bonkers Dakotas everywhere Did you ever fly in that one Eric?

Grew up with the whistling of RR Darts overhead in Hall Green, turbo props just dont sound the same these days

.......

My missus will always have one over on me, 'cos she FLEW to France in the early sixties in a Derby Airways DC3

The Dakotas were gone by the time I was 4 years old. I never got to fly until I was a teenager. My first aeroplane ride was in an Aer Lingus 7447 from Dublin to Shannon in 1977 - £18 return for 30 minutes each way (we came back in a 1-11).

A one-eleven, another one I wish I had flown in

Have flown back across the North Sea in a Britannia C1 that was lovely, sitting backwards.

Round Wilts in a couple of Hastings.(Packed lunch in a small white cardboard box)

Herks, Chinooks and Jet Ranger.

And the usual 737 100 and 300s.

And every ATC cadet flew Chipmunks in my day.

And one or two others but by far, nowhere near enough for my psyche.

Oh yes

Balloon at Weston on the Green, that's living all right

My office directly overlooks the small civil/freight terminal at BHX. You do see some interesting stuff coming in (Piaggio Avanti the other day) but sadly far too many visits from the RAF C17s and Tristars dropping off the wounded from Afghanistan.

However we saw the ground guys today practising marshalling...a Landrover Discovery! I have a feeling that they might be practising for that fortcoming visit of the god squad big cheese on Sunday...
