Good job then we've got all the Spitfires and Hurricanes flying around at the moment for the Battle of Britain 70th anniversary to defend us instead.

Low tech can be a good thing. Ask the Russians!

£69M and the seat belt doesn't work. Dear god.

Health & safety will be grounding them next because the things on the wings sometimes fall off and kill people.

Beeb are saying the grounded ones are awaiting modification, the important ones are still flying -

"Typhoon Quick Reaction Alert in the UK and Falkland Islands is not affected as those aircraft have already been modified."

That will explain why I waited until half five in the rain at Southport then to be told the display finished after a sodding glider. I wondered why so many people left after the reds.

Snap, I really wanted to see the Typhoon - if we'd known it wasn't going to show we'd have left after the Hurri.

Not so much a failure of the £69B aircraft as an OEM cock up by messrs MB I should think

Or a servicing cock up by the Spanish Air Force.

There were the same "teething problems" with the Tornado escape system.

I was "privileged" to go and "recover" the the remains of the first one to have a successful double ejection, followed by recovery of the the infamous A-10 bunter (we never did find the fin but it's amazing how far the actions of the mauser cannons went eek).

I doubt there will be anything actually "wrong" with the system in isolation, but operational experience will dictate modification to enhance survivability.

I wouldn't be to quick to finger the Spanish Air Force. Remember the poor Nav whose seat top latch wasn't engaged and the seat fell out during a flight test?

Fleet mod or fleet check? Not doubting, just curious. Not really heard much on this.
